Story
It can be grown in areas prone to waterlogging as well as in drought prone areas. It has qualities which are diametrically opposite to each other. This variety grows faster than the weeds in the field and hence the cost of weeding / use of weedicides is much lesser for these.
Special Features
This variety is extremely suitable for making Pori (Puffed rice) and also suitable for making Idly and dosa.
Season
It is normally cultivated during Samba and Late samba (between July 15th to January 14th and September 15th to February 14th).
Soil Type
Clayey and Sandy clay soil is preferred for cultivating this variety.

Height
It grows to a height of about 135 cm
Colour and Quality
The colour of the rice is red and it has coarse grains.
